Link to Lieutenant Colonel John T. Ellis Jr.’s “The Airborne Command and Center” https://apps.dtic.mil/sti/pdfs/ADA954911.pdf. This paper is part of the history of the Army Ground Forces. It focuses on how the Army prepared itself for large scale airborne operations.

Ed Ruggero's "Combat Jump: The Young Men Who Led the Assault into Fortress Europe, July 1943", tells the story of the 505 PIR’s jump into Sicily in 1943. It provides readers a vivid description of the first large scale US parachute operation and sets the stage for what will follow during the rest of the war.

Robert Murphy's "No Better Place to Die: Ste-Mere Eglise, June 1944―The Battle for la Fiere Bridge", is a soldier's first person account of A Company 1/505's fight at the La Fiere Bridge.

John D. McKenzie's “On Time On Target". The author joined the 82nd Airborne in England just prior to D-Day and remained with the unit until it returned back to the U.S. in 1946.
